Today’s testimony is from Maria Luisa Colombo, from Borgo Ticino, Italy: a journey that shows how caring for our common home transforms lives and opens up new relationships of hope.
I wanted to get to know the places of Chiara and Francis in a deeper and more spiritual way. Imagining what they were like in medieval times and reflecting on the difficulties they faced in choosing to live there moved me: I was able to perceive them as a sign of a very profound choice of life, oriented towards fraternity and love for Creation.
During this experience, the value of the relationships created with volunteers from different parts of the world and with pilgrims, even if short-lived, was extraordinary. We were united by a sense of universal brotherhood, mutual care, and attention to creation, together with hope for the future. Every encounter, every conversation, and every moment shared strengthened my conviction that commitment to the Earth and to others comes from the heart and is nourished in community.
Living this experience reminded me that concrete acts of service, hospitality, and fraternity are powerful tools for transmitting the values of the Gospel and Laudato Si’, inspiring anyone who desires to care for our common home.
Make a difference, one gesture at a time, for our planet.
