Today we welcome the testimony of Assunta, who speaks to us from Palermo, Sicily. Her story is one of faith and personal growth, intertwined with her concrete commitment to the Laudato Si’ Movement.

I chose to become a volunteer with the Laudato Si’ Movement to give concrete expression to my commitment and to get to know myself better. I have been part of this big family since 2020, the year of the first training course for Animators. Those were months marked by Covid: a difficult time, but also an unexpected opportunity for encounter and growth.

This commitment has enriched my life: I have made new friends, broadened my horizons, and learned to build authentic relationships. When I was asked to become the representative for the Palermo circle, I took this task seriously, dedicating time and energy to it, thanks in part to the freedom that retirement offers me.

In over four years, I have never stopped communicating, telling stories, and inspiring others. I won’t deny that, at times, it has been tiring: keeping people’s attention and acting as a mediator is not easy. But every time I ask myself whether it makes sense to continue, I find the answer in the relationships I have formed, the faces I have encountered, and the hope we share.

Integral ecology is not a slogan: it is a journey that changes our lives and makes us responsible for our common home. That is why I continue to walk with the Laudato Si’ Movement.

Together we can take care of our common home: join us, change starts with you!
