Laudato Si’ Pilgrimage
First public display of the mortal remains of Francis
(March 2–6, 2026)
Laudato si’ mi Signore, cum tucte le tue creature
Eight centuries ago, Saint Francis experienced his passage through Sister Death. Shortly before, he sang his praise to God. His melody still resonates today, centuries later, fresh and relevant. To understand it better, here is an immersive and communal journey through the places that saw the birth of this prayer: the places of ASSISI Terra Laudato Si’

Laudato Si’ Pilgrimage
First public display of the mortal remains of Francis
On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis, the friars of the Sacred Convent of Assisi are offering a unique opportunity: the exposition of the body of the Poverello, from February 22 to March 22, 2026.
From March 2 to 6, 2026, as part of this special event, the Laudato Si’ Center in Assisi is organizing a pilgrimage for you, which will take you to all the Franciscan shrines to savor the interconnected messages of Laudato Si’ and the Canticle of the Creatures.
(registration deadline: December 20, 2025)
What shall we do?
Laudato si’ mi Signore, cum tucte le tue creature. To better understand Francis’ life and song, here is an immersive and communal journey through the places that saw the birth of this prayer.
The pilgrimage will begin with a communal gathering on March 2. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner and free time.
On the other three days, pilgrims will be divided into three groups so that each group can follow the three themes of the pilgrimage over the three days, visit all the Laudato Si’ sites, and participate in the special exposition of the body of St. Francis.
Breakfast and dinner will always be shared, while lunch (included in the price) will be a packed lunch.
The itineraries for the three days are as follows:
Day of the “song of creation“: Cittadella Laudato si’ – via Petrosa, Santuario di Rivotorto, vie del Cantico, San Damiano – Cittadella Laudato si’
Day of the “cry of creation”: Cittadella Laudato si’ – Porziuncola, ex Montedison, Maddalena, Cimitero di guerra, Sacro Tugurio – Cittadella Laudato si’
Day of “action in creation”: Cittadella Laudato si’ – Piazza del Comune, Plateola, Chiesa Nuova, Cattedrale di San Rufino, Santa Chiara, Spogliazione, Sacro Convento, Codice 338, Basilica – Cittadella Laudato si’. In the Lower Basilica, it will be possible to venerate the body of St. Francis during a special exhibition marking the 800th anniversary of his death.
The moment of closure:
The pilgrimage ends on the evening of March 5 with a night vigil in front of the body of St. Francis in the Lower Basilica, a special moment dedicated to the Laudato Si’ Pilgrims.
For those who wish, on March 6 it is possible to take part in an optional activity at the eremo delle carceri.
